Review of StreamYard for Video Live Streaming – Ep 122

StreamYard is a powerful video tool that makes live streaming to social media platforms fun -- and you don’t need to know anything about technology or streaming to get started.

We started using Streamyard for the Houston Social Media Breakfast in early 2019 because it helps us to create engaging content with guests, show on screen comments/lower thirds, and brand our broadcasts with themes, overlays, and backgrounds.

We have been paying customers ever since and thought we would review the tool for our podcast. Listen to the whole episode to hear more about how we are using it. We also answered some of the questions that we had when we first started. Let us know in the comments if you have other questions. We also have a special discount with streamyard, you can use this link to sign up for free and both you and the podcast will get a $10 credit if you ever become a paying member.

Questions We Had About StreamYard Live Streaming

How many people can be on StreamYard?

StreamYard allows 6 people in the stream and 10 people that can enter the broadcast studio or green room. Hosts and guests don’t have to log in or need to provide a password.  Instead, they send you and guests a code via email to login, which is more secure than a password.

How much does it cost?

StreamYard is free to start with their branding and is limited to 20 hours of streaming per month to one platform. The paid version starts at $20 per month.

What are the basic free features?

The basic version does away with their branding, gives you unlimited streaming, allows you to use your own logo, allows for up to 4 hours of HD recording, allows you to multi-stream to two destinations and unlocks many additional features.

What are the paid features?

The professional version includes everything in the basic level plus 8 hours of HD recording and multi-streaming to 5 destinations. In both paid plans you can even record without going live.

Does StreamYard work on phones?

StreamYard doesn’t have an app, but you can join a broadcast from your phone’s browser. There is a hack to initiate a stream from your phone, but you will need to use the Chrome browser and change the setting to the web version.

Can people watch the live stream on StreamYard?

StreamYard is a live streaming studio. You produce shows and interviews in the StreamYard studio and StreamYard broadcasts it wherever you like.
